How to backup the Personal Folder File in Microsoft Outlook 2007

PST file (Personal Storage File) is also known as an Outlook Data file. The outlook data files stores your mail messages and other items like contacts, calendars, tasks, notes on your computer.

Each PST file contains all your outlook folders including inbox, outbox, calendar and contacts. But you can have a single .pst file and using the personal folder backup tool you can back up all of these .pst files. You can backup email messages, contacts, calendars, appointments, task, journals and notes save in .pst file. 

Steps to follow how backup your PST file

Step 1: To create a backup of the Personal Folders file: Open the Personal folders file. Click File > Open > Outlook Data File… to access a list of applicable files.

Step 2 : Go to the File menu, select the Backup… option. In the Outlook Personal Folder Backup window pop up and click Save Backup.

  If the backup command is missing from this menu, the Personal Folders Backup tool has either been incorrectly installed, or has been removed.

Another way to see your Outlook 2007 PST file are located: File > Data File Management > tab Data Files.

Backing up a PST file is quite easy, you just copy the PST file to your choice save location. If you close the Outlook and you cannot copy pst-file, you might have a shutdown issue with Outlook.
